Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Brevicillin® is also suitable for children undergoing therapy with Amoxicillin or Amoxicillin/Clavulanic Acid.
In particular, Brevicillin® Drops has been specifically formulated “with children in mind” and can be used even in newborns.

  • Brevicillin® Stick Packs Orodispersible: sachets with orodispersible powder, each containing at least 20 billion live cells of Bifidobacterium breve PRL2020. They are recommended for adults and older children, easy to take directly in the mouth or dissolved in water.

  • Brevicillin® Drops: 10 ml bottle (150 total drops), with 5 billion live cells per dose (5 drops). Oil-based formulation, ideal for younger children and suitable even for newborns.

Yes, the contents of the Stick Pack can be dissolved directly in the mouth without adding liquids. Drops, however, should be taken directly into the oral cavity or diluted in cold or lukewarm drinks.

It is recommended to take one dose of the product, regardless of format, after each dose of antibiotic:

  • Brevicillin® Stick Packs Orodispersible: 1 stick after each antibiotic dose.

  • Brevicillin® Drops: 5 drops after each antibiotic dose.

No interactions with other drugs have been reported. Before starting any therapy, it is advisable to consult your doctor.

Brevicillin® was developed to be taken concomitantly with Amoxicillin or Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid, antibiotics against which Bifidobacterium breve PRL2020 has specific intrinsic resistance. This allows you to take the probiotic during therapy, guaranteeing the vitality of the microorganisms contained and immediately promoting the restoration of the balance of the intestinal flora.
In the case of other antibiotic therapies, Brevicillin® can still represent a valid support, but it is recommended to start taking it starting from the last day of antibiotic treatment, since there are no known significant resistances of B. breve towards other active ingredients.

No side effects have been reported. In case of excessive or accidental intake, consult your doctor.

  • Stick Packs: contain powder with heat-sensitive probiotic microorganisms and must therefore be stored in the refrigerator (+2°C / +8°C).

  • Drops: contain the same probiotic microorganisms but in an oil suspension and can be stored at room temperature, in a cool and dry place away from heat sources. In this format, the oil acts as a natural “thermal insulator” and, thanks to internal stability studies, it has been shown to maintain the correct bacterial concentration until the end of the product’s shelf life, even if stored at room temperature.
